Anointing of the Sick

“Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the priests of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.  And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.” James 5:14

Through the sacrament of anointing, Christ strengthens those who are ill providing them with the strongest means of support. Jesus showed great concern for the bodily and spiritual welfare of the sick and commanded his followers to do the same. The celebration of this sacrament is an opportunity for the deepening of the faith of the community who are able to witness the faith and devotion of those being anointed.

Anointing at Our Lady’s takes place on request to Fr Stephen. You can either receive the sacrament at Mass or at your home. If you are in hospital ask to see the Catholic chaplain who will readily celebrate the sacrament with you.
